New port bunfight
STAND by for another bunfight at Port Hinchinbrook now that the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency has refused permission for the second stage of the resort. Won't be nearly as bad as the first fight when big Keith Williams got rid of all the mangroves with bulldozers under lights, preferring to do the work first and talk later. He says he is now in the mood to talk and has an air of confidence about beating the EPA around the table. Apparently, even his greatest opponent, local greenie Margaret Moorhouse, is not overly confident the ban will stick.
AND just what happened to all those mangroves that were destroyed in the preparation of stage one? Well apparently they have all grown back. Bigger, healthier than ever. Well, that's what the bloke at the site told me.
